In my last blog I shared with you some of the details of the process we are going through with SAG-AFTRA in response to their efforts to revoke our signatory status. I am delighted to share that we have scheduled an arbitration hearing for Monday, October 22nd where we have high expectations the independent arbitrator will rule in our favor.
Subsequently the union released some information to the entertainment press, stating they have issued a “high alert” aimed at four additional “so-called signatory services”. Those companies are CMC/Forecast, Waving Cat, Talent Solutions and Talent Direct. The union states that it will keep the four companies under “heightened scrutiny due in part to their past violations of the collective bargaining agreement”.
I’m not sure why these third-party signatories are only on “heightened scrutiny” while the union is attempting to revoke our status. We know, and our clients know, that we have always represented them, and the talent in their advertising, with all of the fiduciary requirements of our signatory status. If there is something else the union requires – of us and of our competitors – then we will do whatever we can do to be fully compliant.
We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, please call me or email if you have any questions. And thank you for your continued support of EMS.
